New to golf
in London? Start here.
Four quick questions, no email required — and we’ll show you exactly how your first 30 minutes of golf will work. Learn one-to-one with a professional coach, in a private bay, with everything provided. Free, and no pressure.
You’re closer than you think.
Here’s what your answers tell us — and exactly how your free 30-minute session will work for you. Booking takes two minutes and there’s nothing to pay.
- Starting from zero
Perfect — around a third of Grip Golf members had never held a club before their first visit. Your coach starts with grip, stance and a relaxed first swing, and you’ll hit your first real shot within ten minutes.
- Some swings banked
A great starting point. Your coach will tidy up the fundamentals before any habits set in — and Trackman shows what your swing is actually doing, not what it feels like it’s doing.
- Getting back into it
The swing never fully leaves. Thirty minutes with a coach and Trackman data is the fastest way to dust it off — most returning players are surprised how quickly it comes back.
- Built on basics
Your free session doubles as a proper first lesson: grip, stance and a repeatable swing, taught one-to-one by a professional coach — not pieced together from YouTube.
- Golf-day ready
We’ll focus on the shots that matter on a course day — clean contact, getting the ball airborne, and a club you can trust off the tee. Enough to say yes to the next invite.
- A better habit
Indoor golf is genuinely moreish — every shot measured, every visit a little better than the last. It’s practice that feels like play, whatever the weather is doing outside.
- Curiosity welcome
The free trial exists for exactly this. Thirty minutes, zero cost, zero commitment — the worst case is a fun half hour hitting golf balls with a coach beside you.
- No audience here
You get a private bay to yourself — no queues, no onlookers, no one judging a mishit. It’s the least intimidating way to learn golf that exists.
- Come empty-handed
Fitted club sets and balls are provided, and trainers are fine. Wear whatever you can move in — plenty of people come straight from the office.
- Golf that fits your week
Time is the real barrier to golf — so we built around it. Practice sessions run a focused hour, coaching starts at just 30 minutes, and availability is wide across both studios. Tower Bridge is open 24/7 for members, so you can play before work, after it, or whenever the day allows.
- Start here
That’s the point of the free session: a professional coach looks at where you are and hands you a clear, honest plan for what to do next. No research required.
- Your studio: Tower Bridge
St Katharine Docks, E1W 1BS — four private Trackman bays with dockside views, minutes from Tower Hill and London Bridge, and 24/7 access if you go on to join.
- Your studio: Deptford Park
Grinstead Road, SE8 5FL — our coaching home, open 08:00–22:00, with private Trackman bays and dedicated coaching space built for beginners and improvers.
- Two studios, one standard
Tower Bridge (E1W) and Deptford Park (SE8) run the same Trackman bays and the same coaching standard. Pick whichever has a time that suits you.

“I have been an enthusiastic but poor golfer for years so thank heavens for Charlie Day at Grip Golf. I have had 7 lessons with him and they have been absolutely transformative. He has a lovely calm relaxed style that puts you at ease immediately and his instruction style is fantastic. The facilities are great and I’d recommend that anyone - wherever they are with their game - gives Grip and Charlie a try. I’m looking forward to my next 3 lessons and will deffo book more!”

“Grip Golf offers a great product with reasonably priced Golf Sim bookings. The location is also convention for professionals in the City who don’t want to travel for hours for some golf! 10/10”

“Brilliant set-up in a prime location just off Tower Bridge. The staff are extremely helpful and the equipment is top of the range. I had a session with Mark who was evidently very knowledgable and a great coach. Will definitely be coming back.”

“Really friendly and helpful coach”

“Have been a member since last Dec and have been having such a great time. 2 bays for swing analysis or course play and a recently added bigtilt putting green helped set me up for a good experience on the course. All members I’ve encountered are super nice and the coaching team too. Dave Chapman gave me my intro and has been my coach - I don’t have enough words to describe how much of a legend he is. Conclusion: you won’t regret joining Grip Golf Deptford”

“A professional experience and coaching session with my coach Mark. Facilitates are good and if you are serious about improving your game this will do it. Recommend this.”
Ian Hodgson· Tower Bridge - ★★★★★
“I’ve seen instant improvement after just three lessons with Charlie at Grip Golf. His coaching is incredibly detailed and structured — every session is clear, purposeful and tailored exactly to what you need. I’ve tried a number of coaches in London and Charlie is genuinely the best I’ve worked with. He explains the mechanics in a way that makes sense, gives you simple feels to take away, and the changes translate quickly onto the course. The lesson bundles are excellent value for money, especially considering the quality of coaching and technology available. He’s also very flexible with scheduling and the location is easy to get to, which makes staying consistent much easier. Highly recommend for anyone serious about improving their golf.”

“The facilities are excellent and very well maintained. Everything feels well organised. Charlie has been my coach throughout this time, and working with him has been a great experience. He is highly professional, friendly, and incredibly patient. Over the past year, he has helped me a lot not only in improving my technique but also in understanding my game better.”

“After a long break from playing, I picked up my clubs again around two years ago. However, with the UK weather limiting practice time, I wasn’t progressing as quickly as I’d hoped. I joined Grip Golf and had an introductory session with Dave Chapman. We built an instant rapport, and he quickly identified a few key adjustments in my swing. He also introduced me to TrackMan and showed me how to use it effectively to monitor my progress. Having never taken lessons before, I decided to book a series of sessions. After just three lessons, I’m striking the ball better than ever. Dave is flexible in his approach and has a real talent for explaining concepts in a way that makes them easy to understand and apply. I’m now making the progress I was aiming for and couldn’t recommend him more highly.”

“I booked a free trial which was a very nice experience overall, with both the admin staff and coach. The membership and lesson packages are more attractive than other places in the City. Highly recommended!”

“I did a session with Mark and he’s honestly outstanding; would highly recommend!”
Jack Blackton· Tower Bridge - ★★★★★
“I had an induction with David chapman and instantly he was able to identify why I was having problems with my golf game. Since then I have continued to have lessons with him and my swing has improved dramatically, making me a lot more confident for when I go on to the course. David is enthusiastic when coaching and has been more than happy to go the extra mile, offering to help with analysis of my swing outside of the lesson, or staying around for an extra 10 minutes to ensure I have a clear understanding of what I need to do The facility is also great, large bays, and the use of trackman has allowed me to use the in-depth data to understand how my swing is impacting the ball flight, which gives me targets to aim for with each swing. I would highly recommend”
Freddie Heath· Deptford Park - ★★★★★
“I booked a free trial day, and he was incredibly kind and helpful throughout. I even felt a little guilty because my appointment made him miss a beautiful sunset with his wife — not exactly the best timing on my part 😅 Despite that, he was never annoyed and helped me calmly and professionally until the end. A truly kind person and a great experience. Highly recommended!”

“The price broken down from monthly to daily is half the price of 100 balls at a driving range, the equipment is the beat out there the location is close to me,the coaches prices are better than the competition and finally the quite solitude of the studio where I can really focus without all the noise. Plus one month free membership and also dave chapman who gave my induction gave me some great swing tips. All in all I'm very pleased .Will be using the studio daily.”

Every “but what if…”, answered.
Still unsure about something? The team is on live chat — just ask.
I’ve genuinely never played. Won’t I embarrass myself?
No — and you wouldn’t be unusual. Around a third of our members had never held a club before their first visit. You’re in a private bay with just your coach, who teaches complete beginners every week. There’s no audience, and every good golfer started exactly where you are.
Do I need clubs, golf shoes or golf clothes?
None of it. Fitted club sets and balls are provided, trainers are fine, and there’s no dress code — plenty of people come straight from the office. Just bring yourself.
Is the first session really free? What’s the catch?
Really free — no card required to book, nothing to pay on the day, no obligation afterwards. The “catch” is simply that we’re confident: once you’ve hit shots with a coach beside you and seen your swing on Trackman, we think you’ll want to come back.
What actually happens in the 30 minutes?
Your coach starts with the fundamentals — how to hold the club and how to stand — then has you hitting real shots within about ten minutes. Trackman measures every shot, and you finish with an honest picture of your starting point and a clear recommendation for what to do next.
What is Trackman, and why should a beginner care?
Trackman is the ball-tracking system used on professional tours — it measures exactly what your club and ball are doing on every swing. For a beginner it means your coach works from facts rather than guesses, so you improve faster and nothing feels like a mystery.
How do people usually carry on afterwards?
Whatever suits you: one-to-one lessons, structured beginner coaching, or a membership from £80 a month (first month free) to practise whenever you like. Your coach will recommend a route on the day — and “just think about it” is always an acceptable answer.
Where are the studios?
Tower Bridge is at St Katharine Docks (E1W 1BS), minutes from Tower Hill and London Bridge stations. Deptford Park is on Grinstead Road (SE8 5FL) in South East London. Book whichever is easier to reach.
Everyone’s first swing looks the same.
The difference is where you take it. Thirty minutes, a professional coach, a private bay and everything provided — free, with no card and no obligation. The only thing you can get wrong is not booking it.
